The history of 689 Cellars dates back to 2008. Curtis McBride has spent many years marketing his wine business and selling wines worldwide, and his friend, winemaker Kentras Mussen, has been making great wines in California for many years. After many trips to and from the Far East, Curtis and Kent decided they could use elements of Chinese numerology to express their ideal of the perfect winery. In Chinese culture, SIX EIGHT & NINE are considered lucky or auspicious numbers.
During our travels in these Far East we have experienced this to be true. We named our wineries after these numbers in honor of and in honor of the positive force each represents.
Like the numbers woven into our logo, our wines reflect individual elements brought together into one balanced and harmonious whole.
Located in California's world-famous Napa Valley, 689 Cellars works with vineyard partners to produce exceptional wines to enjoy with family and friends. We were founded by longtime friends with years of experience in the wine industry. They wanted to share their long, happy and rich experience in this industry with friends old and new. Our wine family draws inspiration from our travels around the world and is enjoyed in the US and over 30 countries.
