The winery was established in Napa Valley in 1966 by Robert Mondavi. Mr. Mondavi is known as the "Father of California Wine" who brought the idea of premium wine to California and created many wonderful wines. Aromas of black fruits such as black cherry, plum and blackberry are seamlessly layered, with hints of spice, herbs and earth with a hint of tobacco. Enjoy rich concentration, silky tannins and a long, complex finish. This is a wine that reflects the sensibility of winemaker Jeanvieve Jansen, who served as Opus One's Chief Winemaker for seven years.
